PerspectivesJack: United
Artist Theatres
After an automobile accident several years ago, Jack wondered if he would ever
work again. He was trained as a licensed electrician and worked in the field for
five years. Since his accident, Jack's hands shake which make fine motor skills
difficult. Over the past five years, Jack has worked in the restaurant and
retail industries. While these jobs were okay with Jack, he truly enjoys working
with people. He did not want to work behind the scenes in a restaurant or retail
store.
Today, Jack is working at the United Artist Theatres in Chesterfield, Virginia.
He has worked for just over a month and is thoroughly enjoying the experience.
Jack is responsible for taking tickets, giving directions to each theater as
well as greeting each customer, which matches his personality perfectly.
"Since I began working, my days feel like they are rewarding. I don't sit
at home all day watching television and becoming depressed. Work has filled a
huge void in my life."
