Beth Bader
Bio:
Dr. Bader has been a Research Associate at the VCU-RRTC since 1993, has served as the project director for three national research projects, and was PI for a statewide data collection project for the Part C Program of Virginia. In 1973, she graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Physical Therapy degree and worked at a children’s rehabilitation hospital where she fabricated low tech devices for use by children and teens from the rural Pine Barrens of New Jersey to the high poverty areas of Philadelphia and New Jersey.
After obtaining an M.S.W from West Virginia University in 1977, she designed accessible home and preschool environments for children enrolled in the SSI-Disabled Children’s Program who lived in rural southern New Jersey. Dr. Bader served as the Training Director for the Maryland Technology Assistance Program in 1992-1993, and was a consultant to the Virginia Assistive Technology System in the mid-1990’s while at the VCU-RRTC.
In 2003, Dr. Bader completed her Ph.D. in Education at VCU with emphasis on disability policy, and has, as an Assistant Professor, been able to combine all three of her degrees in her scholarly research, teaching and service within the VCU-RRTC and the Department of Special Education and Disability Policy.
