David Compton

David Compton works at Philip Morris and is a member of Virginia Commonwealth's Business Roundtable. The Roundtable is a forum for identifying and addressing factors that inhibit industries from employing workers with disabilities. Read below or view the video of David's comments on disability management.

David Compton --

"Philip Morris is a company with a very diverse workforce and a wide variety of jobs. So our approach to the potentially disabled individual is on a continuum were we try to work with the individual to maximize their healthcare, both the
efficiency and effectiveness of their healthcare and the rehabilitation and lead them back into having a productive and rewarding life with the company.

In those cases where we do have residual disability we partner with the individual and healthcare provider and exercise a formal program to look at a variety of technical and administrative and staffing options which they'll allow us to bring the employee back into the workforce within their abilities."
