Successful Work Supports for Persons with Spinal Cord Injury

Two case studies illustrate the use of supported employment services for people with spinal cord injury (SCI). Supported employment is an ongoing vocational rehabilitation service that provides competitive work in integrated work settings for individuals with the most severe disabilities, who without these supports, would be unable to obtain or maintain competitive employment. Supported employment generally involves 4 phases, career planning, job search, on the job support, and job retention services. The case studies illustrate this process.
