Early findings from the National EEOC ADA Research Project will be presented as well as an understanding of the types of studies that are and are not possible using this dataset. The Project has furthered our understanding of the nature and scope of workplace discrimination under ADA Title I. Guidelines for accessing the database or recommending research questions with direct application to the elimination of workplace discrimination will also be discussed.

Presenter: Rochelle Habeck, Larry Hickey
Dr. Rochelle Habeck will discuss a study that is designed to explore in-depth organizational factors and practices that are successfully retaining employees with disabilities. She will be joined by Mr. Larry Hickey, a participating corporate partner. Mr. Hickey is the Assistant Director of HR and Manager of Employee Support Services at the University of CA, San Francisco. Together they will provide information on the current state of knowledge on how employer organizations, individuals with disabilities, and their workplace partners successfully resolve disability-related challenges to job retention, what motivates them to do so, and the barriers that threaten their continuance.

VCU's Liz Getzel will be joined by mentors from the business community along with college students to share how this mentoring program is impacting the career experiences and employment outcomes of college students with disabilities. Hear directly from these program participants to find out how mentors and students were paired and what strategies have proven most effective.
