Disability and Employment - Vocational Rehabilitation: Where Partners Create Careers - Strategies provided on the following topics:

Business Tax Credits & Deductions for Employment of People with Disabilities - January 2000, No. 2  This fact sheet describes three tax incentives available to help employers cover accommodation costs for employees and/or customers with disabilities, making their businesses accessible for everyone.

The Job Accommodation Network (JAN)  is a service of the President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities with additional support provided by The Hartford. JAN provides information about job accommodations and the employability of people with disabilities.

Reasonable Accommodations & The Americans with Disabilities Act  - September, 1999,  No. 1  This fact sheet provides definitions of key terms and procedures related to job accommodations under the employment provisions (Title 1) of the ADA.

ADA Technical Assistance Program is a federally funded network of grantees which provides information, training, and technical assistance to businesses and agencies with duties and responsibilities under the ADA and to people with disabilities with rights under the ADA. As part of the ADA Technical Assistance Program, ten regional DBTACs provide information and referral, technical assistance, public awareness, and training on all aspects of the ADA.

The One Stop Centers connect employment, education, and training services into a coherent network of resources at the local, state, and national level.

The Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) was established by Congress and evaluates numerous grant programs and projects to improve management and effectiveness.  RSA also advises the Assistant Secretary of the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) and the Secretary of Education on the formulation, development, implementation, and review of other policies and legislation affecting individuals with disabilities.

Virginia Commonwealth University’s Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Workplace Supports (VCU-RRTC) identifies factors that enhance or inhibit businesses from tapping into a pool of potential employees.  Their program is based on close collaborative relationship with business organizations and VCU-RRTC has been nationally recognized for their highly organized and cost effective designs for training that offers diversity and flexibility to customers.
